Angela Johnson is more than a fashion designer. She’s a fashion artist, creating “innovative eco-friendly gowns from ‘thrifted’ t-shirts”, in addition to her roles as fashion design instructor at Mesa Community College, speaker at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising, fashion consultant, fashion show coordinator and mother of two!!

I was blown away after a quick peruse of her website. The “t-shirt ball gowns” and clothing are outrageously creative, her list of awards and press are “seamingly” endless, and her fashion illustrations are works of art themselves!! Her website describes the t-shirt dresses as “unique and one-of-a-kind because they are each made with whatever t-shirts can be scavenged at the time they are made.” LOVE IT!! This talented and equally sweet woman has been a staple in the local fashion industry for more than 14 years and will continue to enrich the Phoenix fashion market for years to come!

  1. Hello Mrs. Johnson,

This is Katie Payne I was one of the many students you talked to when you participated in the Mountain Pointe Women’s Mentor Day. I am applying to go to FIDM and I remembered that you said you would write a letter of recommendation for me and I was hoping you would be able to do just that. It’s kind of late notice I would need it at the latest Friday the 17th just let me know. Thank you for your time ;)

    Thanks! :)
