Dear friends of Fashion Phoenix,

My friend and President of “Singleton Moms”, Andy Royal, needs our help! Singleton Moms, a local charitable resource provider for single mothers living with cancer, is hosting an special evening out event for the mothers December 5th. And the mothers need dresses!!! Something fabulous to wear for their special, fabulous evening!

Singleton Moms is looking for  at least 10 dresses, around size 10. If you have a dress, want to purchase and donate a new dress or want to provide hair and makeup services the night of the event in Scottsdale, please email Andy with a picture of your dress if possible at andy@singletonmoms.org by FRIDAY, OCTOBER 9TH. The special mommies need time to get fitted and find the perfect accessories!

Fashion Phoenix’s winner of the free haircut with traveling stylist, Luis Solis, was Andy Royal of Singleton Moms. Singleton Moms was founded in 2006 by Andy Royal and Jody Farley-Berens, who were moved to action when they lost a wonderful friend and single mother, Michelle Singleton, to cancer. The group provides financial assistance and services like housecleaning, meal delivery, and more to single mothers undergoing Chemotherapy/Radiation or have recently undergone these types of treatments. Recycle your jeans at a.k.a Green, Scottsdale retailer of “green” home products.  Denim of any size, shape, color or condition will be collected through JUNE 15TH, 2009. The jeans will be recycled into insulation for homes damaged by natural disasters.

This warms my heart! Help a Mommy or Daddy look like a model for a special Mother’s Day portrait for UMOM. Here’s the details from the event organizers…

WHAT: A day for celebrating family at UMOM New Day Centers homeless shelter.  Professional photographers will take family portraits for all the UMOM families and give the photos to the families for free. Volunteers will provide hair styling and makeup services and serve a special brunch as part of the event.

WHEN: Saturday, May 9th  9am – 2pm, Hair and Make-up will start at 9am, Photos at 11am

HOW YOU CAN HELP: Donate your time and services. Volunteers are needed to do hair styling and makeup for the moms and the girls and give hair cuts for the men.  We also need volunteers to help serve brunch, distribute beauty products for the families to keep, receive their photos and help set up and clean up.

Donate  NEW, UN-USED makeup and beauty supplies. All products collected for this event will be donated to the UMOM families.  Needed items include but are not limited to:   Foundation – Eye Shadow – Makeup brushes – Hairspray – Powder – Eye Liner – Lip Liner – Hair Ties – Mascara – Lip Gloss / Lipstick  – Brushes / Combs – Bobby Pins

Of course, you can also donate cash for organizers to buy supplies.
