This site is largely dedicated to the fabulous women of Phoenix. But us ladies know, especially us mom-bombs, that our Valley has some awesome men and dads that rock! Allow me to introduce you to a few who have rocked the Fashion Phoenix world…

Matthew Hasher – Principal/Owner of Blufish Design Studio

Not only is Matthew the owner of one of the coolest advertising and graphic design firms in town, he and his company, Blufish, have been instrumental in launching your favorite local fashion blog, FashionPhoenix.com! This daddy of one gorgeous son fell in love with style and shopping growing up in the fashion-focused Fort Lauderdale/Miami area. If it was up to Matt, the every day attire at Blufish would be upscale casual in Tommy Bahama trophy shirts and soft bermuda shorts, reminding him of South Florida’s casual beach vibe and cruising his boat down the Intracoastal with his 3-year old first mate.

I would not be as fabulously dressed or as fortunate if it wasn’t for my dear Matthew. As one of my favorite shopping partners, he has opened my eyes to an elevated level of style and quality. This fashion-forward father has shared some monumental moments of my fashion-loving life including my first Prada in Paris, my first Manolo’s in New York City, introducing me to my obsession with Michael Kors and so much more.

Scott Johnson – Musician/Guitarist for Gin Blossoms

Scotty, as we Valley girls lovingly call him, has been rocking the world with the Gin Blossoms since the mid 90′s. Currently on summer tour with the group promoting their new album set to release late summer (so excited!), this super talented father of two girls can be caught with the Gin Blossoms across the country or at weekly gigs with the popular band Elvis Before Noon and more.

This honey-sweet rock-and-roll daddy and I share a love of music and of wardrobe stylist, Jill DeAndrea. Recently, Jill and Scott scored a fabulous vintage Pucci jacket at Fashion by Robert Black in Scottsdale.

Burt Kohler – Co-Founder and Creative Director of Kohler Academy

Everything about him, from his position as Co-Founder and Creative Director at Kohler Academy, the premier cosmetology and skin therapy school in the Southwest, to his Mini-Cooper to his vibe in general, Burt Kohler can be described in one word: cool.

Internationally cool, perhaps internationally known, Burt works along side his lovely wife, Jill, and travels the world with her and their two boys in tandem with the Kohler Academy Study Abroad program. From his recent trip to London, this mod-loving dad returned with these fantastic black leather Doc Martens.

Burt, the ever cool, ever crisp modern dad helping hopefuls realize a successful career in the beauty industry relies on what fits well from his travels abroad and from his favorite local stores including H&M, Banana Republic and Industrial Ride Shop.

One of my favorite local beauty guru’s, Mary Beth York of MB York Cosmetics, opened her new Lip, Lash & Flash Lounge inside the doors of Ruby boutique at Kierland Commons TODAY!! Chastity Garner of The Curvy Girl's Guide to Style and my new BFF (Best Friend in Fashion!)

I had the pleasure of meeting an amazing young woman last week, Chastity Garner, author of “The Curvy Girl’s Guide to Style.” What an honor to meet such a strong, beautiful and inspiring woman who is sharing her fantastic tips and tricks to help other women hopefully feel the same.

Onto the book…if you are a curvy girl, YOU SHOULD BUY THIS BOOK!! It is filled with simple, honest tips and tricks for everything from examining your body type to dressing-to-flatter to personal care to a list of Chastity’s favorite plus size online stores.  More than just the content filled with practical tips and tricks, this book is written with love – self love, love of others and love of style. A great inspiration for girls of any size.

One of my favorite tips / quotes from the book: “Do not, and I repeat, do not relinquish looking your best because you are in a weight loss transition.” So many of us women deny ourselves of style because we are waiting on those last 10 pounds to drop, or if you’re me, waiting for bigger boobs to magically appear. There’s an opportunity every day to choose to look and feel your best, or at least a bit better – no matter the size, no matter the transition you are in.

When I met Chastity, she was giving a little talk at Strut Bridal Salon in Phoenix. Strut supports plus size brides with sample sizes starting at 16 through 32. This little gem of a bridal boutique was the perfect setting to have a conversation about size and how to fit and flatter. And by the way ladies, if you’re looking for a wedding dress in the range of 16-32, I highly recommend Strut. It’s a fantastic store filled with gorgeous, gorgeous gowns!
