When I went to the Phoenix Art Museum last week to tour the historic fashions in the Kelly Ellman Fashion Design Gallery, I happened upon the Art Institute of Phoenix’s Graduate Expo for the Fashion Marketing Department. I had no idea that this program existed locally! The prospective graduates put together business ideas, business plans, marketing plans, marketing materials, video tutorials, fashion product samples and more as part of their graduation requirement and to present to prospective employers invited to the event. The ideas and presentations by the young ladies I met were super impressive!! Here are a few of the presentations at the Expo (sorry about the iPhone pics!)…

The evidence!!
We said “Au Revoir” to our French friend and nanny Lisa this weekend. It was a tearful goodbye and we miss her already. While I was cleaning out her room with tears streaming down my face, I realized that this beautiful foreigner made a hefty contribution to the Arizona retail economy during her very short stay. In fact, she spent every single penny of her weekly pay at Ross, Forever 21, Dillard’s, Hottie, Target, The Limited, Michael Kors, Coach and everywhere else in between on shoes, dresses, tops, jeans and accessories!
So, as an Arizonan and an proud American, let me also say, “Merci” to my dear sweet Lisa for helping our economy.

Thank you to everyone who participated by sharing their story of why they are blessed. The winner of the “blessed.” t-shirt by ENjEN Design is Janette Reeves!! Here’s why she’s “blessed”…
“I feel so badly for all of those families out there that are struggling through these difficult times. The reality of these tough economic times is astounding, yet my family has not been affected today. We all know that it is a matter of time before we are, yet we are hopeful every day that we survive it. Each and every day we wonder, “Will I lose my job today?” Why is life so unfair to us? The question is; “Is it really unfair or is that we are being challenged to our full capacity?” Will this make us stronger, will we survive it? Yes, we will! We can! We can continue to love life and live it for ourselves and the ones that we love!
I feel so blessed with every breath I take! If my husband loses his job we will be okay! We have each other, we have our daughters and we have been through more trying times in our short stint here on earth. ”
