A new report over the weekend from Business Insider, states “Rich People Say This is Their Favorite Department Store,” so the more you money you have, the more you like to spend it at Nordstrom.

At first, I was a bit surprised that the poll wasn’t topped by Bergdorf’s or Barneys New York, but after careful consideration and reflection on my own personal shopping experiences at all the major retailers just mentioned, Nordstrom has my vote, including the Nordstrom in Scottsdale at Scottsdale Fashion Square. And whether or not you’ve got thousands to drop in one shopping excursion, here are a few of my shopping tips for how to shop at Nordstrom and why I love to shop there:

• Well maintained store and store design – The Nordstroms in Scottsdale is clean, well lit and well maintained, making it a friendly shopping environment.
• Friendly staff – Nordstroms has long a industry reputations for treating their sales staff with respect and it’s obvious as to how long employees stay with the company. I routinely see the same sales staff at Nordstroms in Scottsdale.
• Spa, restaurant, coffee shop and other services on site – It’s a one stop shop for a pleasant day just by visiting this one store.
• Merchandising – The merchandising of quality brands is fabulous and makes it easy to find the styles and the latest trends you want.
• Sales and discounts – The twice yearly sales in June and January are always something to look forward to and save up for! Plus, regular sales and discounts on quality merchandise are comfortable and not “in your face” so to speak. And of course, Nordstrom Rack, another of our favorite stores in Scottsdale, is amazing for discounted merchandise. I frequent the North Scottsdale Nordstrom Rack and the Chandler Rack, near Chandler Fashion Center often.
• Variety of brands – I can shop for the entire family at Nordstroms in a variety of budgets.
• Family friendly – I speak from personal experience here when I say wheeling your screaming child through the store won’t gain snide looks and glances, furthering your distress and embarrassment! And the ladies room has comfortable chairs and lounge for things like nursing your baby. As I, again, can personally vouch for.
• How to Shop Nordstrom in Scottsdale (A few of my favorite shopping tips…): 1. My favorite time to shop is when the store first opens for the best selection and for a freshly organized store. 2. You can make an appointment with an on staff personal shopper to help guide your shopping experience. Or make an appointment to meet me there with you to navigate the store layout. 3. Park at the back covered garage on the street level or level 2 off Goldwater Blvd. near The Waterfront, just behind the store so you don’t have to walk through the mall, especially with kids. Level 1 parking does NOT have a direct entrance to the store, so you’ll have to take the stairs or elevator if you park on this level.

Though I consider myself and equal-opportunity shopper and visit other stores in Scottsdale regularly and not any more or less than, it’s easy for me to see why Nordstroms topped the Business Insiders list. And I can’t forget, Nordstrom Rack is always close to my heart for great deals!

We have to agree! The designer of the iconic shoe brand, Christian Louboutin, has a special message to wearers of the famously red soled Louboutin shoes. Plain and simple, Louboutin states, “If you can’t walk in them, don’t wear them.”

The UK”s Telegraph Fashion also reports, “Louboutin said high heels are ”pleasure with pain” adding that he had no sympathy for women complain about wearing the shoes because he once saw Tina Turner perform for three hours in Madison Square Garden in New York wearing a pair.”

If you just don’t have the discipline or pain threshold for the shoes, not to worry. Louboutin announced over the weekend the development of Christian Louboutin cosmetics coming 2013. Will it be all rouges? Red packaging? Red bottomed? Only red lipsticks? We’ll have to wait and see how the famous red soles are incorporated (or not) into the line.
