Today Katy Perry premiered her newest music video, E.T. The immensely talented Kabuki was the makeup artist for the video. He also was a makeup consultant on Tron: Legacy! Three looks were created for the video: Alien, Fawn and Tribal. Kabuki told InStyle, “The three looks are like three aspects of the extraterrestrial.”

Even before the video was released, many Katy Perry fans created their own “alien” look and posted makeup tutorials. Kabuki is flattered by the support and said: “I think it’s great that they’re excited about it! They understand that participating is what pop culture is all about. It’s about feeling that you’re a part of something.” Each look took about six hours to create.

My favorite look is “Fawn.” The color contrast of bronze, dark brown and black really makes the look stand out. The eye makeup is exaggerated and very Cleopatra-esque. To learn more about Kabuki you can visit his site here.
