Heidi Klum is the most recent high-profile celebrity to follow the “scent” of success and fame with her upcoming fragrance, “Shine”, with cosmetic giant, Coty.

From WWD today…

“Heidi Klum’s radiance, warmth and spontaneity are perfect for Coty,” said Bernd Beetz, chief executive officer of Coty Inc. “Her personality and business ventures will help Coty reach untapped audiences.”

Beauty deals are in Klum’s blood, as she told WWD in September: “My father worked as the marketing director for 4711, a cosmetics company in Germany, for 20 years,” Klum said. “He would always bring home testers of lipsticks, eye shadows and perfumes. I absolutely loved it — I started wearing makeup and experimenting with beauty products way too early. In German schools, it is mandatory for students to find a three-week internship when they turn 13 to get work experience. I worked at 4711, where I had to do everything from filling perfume into bottles, sitting at the conveyor belt for quality inspections to marketing to the labs where the vats of creams [were] being developed. It’s funny how it’s all come back around again!”

Our mom loved fashion - She had amazing style and taste.  She spent the latter part of her life focused on fashion, as a buyer, a stylist, and a behind-the-scenes retail investor.

After a three year battle, she recently passed away from Lymphoma.  She left her two sons with an amazing collection of over 3000 designer, boutique and vintage items including shoes, bags, dresses, jackets, etc.  With the exception of the vintage items, the majority of it is New With Tags (NWT), not worn.  These items came from her retail ventures and her personal collection.

Zappos proves that footwear is a hot commodity! For me personally, shoes and handbags are always the best investments. And even better to purchase from a company that really cares about its people, its culture and revitalization. Congratulations Zappos!

Here’s the scoop from WWD…

Zappos.com is making some big moves. This year, the e-tailer ranked No. 6 on Fortune’s annual “100 Best Companies to Work For” List, released last week.

The company made its debut on the list at No. 23 in 2009, moved up to No. 15 in 2010 and rose nine spots again this year. Zappos also registered the biggest percentage year-over-year job growth on the list, at 37 percent.

“While the external recognition of making the list for the third year in a row is great for recruiting purposes, internally the most important thing is for us to take our culture to the next level as we continue to grow,” said Zappos CEO Tony Hsieh in an email sent to employees last Thursday.

One way Hsieh is looking to elevate culture is through the company’s move to downtown Las Vegas in 2012 or 2013. Zappos plans to inhabit the soon-to-be-vacated City Hall complex, and Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman heralded the move as a “game changer” for downtown revitalization efforts. “Our proposed future downtown location will be a great urban environment that will help grow the cultures of both Zappos and Las Vegas,” Hsieh said.
