“Gunn’s Golden Rules” by Tim Gunn is a fabulous little gem of a book, perfect for giving and getting this holiday. I started reading the book this week, to escape the annual insanity of this holiday season for just a moment or two. My hero, Tim Gunn, blew me away again with this laugh-out-loud “life’s little lesson” book on how to “make it work” no matter the situation.
Ask Santa for this book this year. You won’t be disappointed in this fast-read, especially if you picture Mr. Gunn perfectly pressed in the workroom or sitting across from you at a fancy tea retelling you these fantastic personal stories.
I re-read Rule Number 7 – Niceties Are Nice , about gift giving and receiving, this morning for a quick chuckle. Hilarious!
Natalie Portman will be Vogue’s cover girl for January 2011. In the article she talks about her newest film, Black Swan, her previous experience with Ballet and the sacrifices she made for the film. Portman also mentions to Vogue she has a production company with business partner, Annette Savitch. They have been working on creating comedies. You can read the article online at Vogue and watch behind the scenes footage here.
Besides landing the January cover of Vogue, Portman will be the new face for Dior’s fragrance, Miss Dior Cherie. In Allure magazine she said, “I like the idea behind it – it’s playful, chic, Parisian.” The fragrance also has a unique blend of green tangerine, pink jasmine and patchouli. I can’t wait to see the ad campaign photos. I have a feeling Dior has captured the essence of Natalie, her down to earth attitude and chic style, which is exactly what Miss Dior Cherie is all about.
Fashion Phoenix has asked a few of our fashionable friends for their lust list this year. Here’s what the darling Dale Jeffries, the style-centered writer and creator of one of my favorite fashion blogs, www.pheasantsvultures.blogspot.com, is hoping Santa bring him this year…
I am obsessed with Michael Kors’s black ‘Hamilton’ weekender bag! If there’s one thing I love more than giving timeless, thoughtful gifts for the holidays it’s getting them! This easy, chic weekend hold-all is the quintessential travel bag. Michael is the king of jet set fashion, so he is my go-to guy for fab travel pieces that will never go out of style. I can’t wait to rock this attention-grabbing bag at Sky Harbor and O’Hare airports over the holidays. Santa, take note!
